Catch Coronavirus Out

NOW is the best time to strengthen your immune system. And your solutions may come from China too.

The Coronavirus story requires no introduction.  It’s caused a frenzied international panic.  If you pay any attention to the news, you’ll have noticed the doom boom.

Ironically, the stress and anxiety about Coronavirus are likely to make you more vulnerable.  They cause the release of the stress hormone cortisol in your body, which may weaken your immune system.

The Department of Health advises Coronavirus may cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.

Ready for good news?  The Coronavirus isn’t the only thing discovered in China.  The ancient arts of Tai Chi (an internal martial art) and Qigong (energy cultivation) were too, known to provide fast relief for stress and anxiety.  They can also boost the immune system.  Unsurprisingly, China is applying them as part of the solution to the crisis.

Mistakenly, people associate Tai Chi as a slow-moving martial art suitable only for the elderly.  While Tai Chi is an adjunct to standard medical treatment for the prevention and rehabilitation of many conditions commonly associated with age, children and adults of all ages stand to benefit from the correct and regular practice.  What’s more, it’s fun, making it more likely you’ll stick to it.

Tai Chi has many far-reaching benefits.  Including increased strength, flexibility, reduced falls, improved posture and less back pain, better cardiovascular health, lower blood pressure, bone health, psychological benefits (such as reducing anxiety, depression and overall better mood).  Studies have shown it to improve quality of life for people with heart disease, cancer and other chronic illnesses.  It improves blood glucose levels and control of type 2 diabetes and immune system response.

This impressive list is by no means complete either. It’s the perfect activity for the rest of your life.
